A short biography and explanation...

A chance meeting of old friends in an off licence in Moreton, Wirral in early 2004 led to Jegsy and Staunch exchanging phone numbers and musical ideas.. the creative nucleus of the band was reformed. Their earlier project 'Jegsy Dodd & the sons of Harry Cross' was back in the 80's when they were signed to Liverpool's Probe Plus label.

Jegsy brought in a collection of new rhymes, probably his best stuff to date, all written with a spectrum of insight, humour, and surrealist wit, which is quite improbable from the man with the cashew nut head.

Staunch set about writing the music to Jegsy’s rhymes. They worked on a few tracks just for a laugh and continued to laugh for several days, until a nurse became available to sponge both their legs down.

With the partnership now sealed they continued to work together through the summer 2004 at Staunch's 'Commercial Suicide' studios in London and enjoyed the odd 'wine style' drink from time to time.

First a 6-track demo 'Toss My Salad' was produced and sent out into the world picking up airplay from 'Radio 1 DJ, Rob da Bank’. The track 'GRUMPY OLD MEN’, received the biggest ever response to a track played on that show. Mr da Bank continued to play other tracks from the demo on his Thursday night Radio 1 show.

Their first gig with a full 5-piece band, , was a 'live' session at the BBC Maida Vale studios for 'Radio1' in April, broadcast 14/4/05. Since then they have managed to actually sort of release the album into the wild via their website www.jegsydodd.com.

Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens championed the bands new tracks from the now completed album, playing both ‘Grumpy Old Men and ‘All I Ever Wanted Was You’. The listeners voted Grumpy Old Men NUMBER 1 in the Radio 1 end of year FESTIVE FIFTY chart ahead of the likes of Arcade Fire, Anthony and The Johnsons, Arctic Monkeys, Early Years etc

Spurred on by this success the band's album ‘WAKE UP AND SMELL THE OFFY' was released on their own 'PIFFLE RECORDS' label. Its purpose is to give you an alternative to what you might hear in the popular music charts. It's been a long time coming but some things in life are worth the wait. Download ‘Grumpy Old Men’ on itunes.

Strap yourself in it's going to be a bumpy ride, because this album could be the closest thing to Heaven without all the hassle of being......dead.
